It was a very auspicious day for the community of all age group of Rajasthan State. On the occasion of World Tobacco Free Day, With VAAGDHARA’s continuous efforts, the Medical and Health Department declared that manufacturing, storage, distribution and advertisement of E-Cigarette are totally banned/Prohibited in Rajasthan.

A larger group of the community raised voices and submitted a whitepaper for the issue of selling of E-Cigarette and its consequences in the new generation. We are very thankful to our Honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan Mr Ashok Gehlot that he accepted the whitepaper from the wider community and incorporated the issue of Banning E-Cigarette in the state election manifesto. Positiveness and action taken for totally banned on E-Cigarette in the state have been proved that our CM cares and worries about Health of state’s inhabitants and the future of the new generation. This decision of the Rajasthan government will prove to be effective in preventing the youth from getting entangled in tobacco intake.

VAAGDHARA has initiated efforts in 2017 towards E-Cigarette ban in the state. In order to achieve this, the Organization created and submitted a proposal to the National Tobacco Control Cell. The proposal was accepted for banning of tobacco products and started thinking in a positive direction and further action. In the presence of Mr Kalicharan Saraf, Medical and Health Minister of that time, VAAGDHARA organized a workshop of Journalists. We did so many efforts for incorporating the issue of banning E-cigarette in the election manifesto. A letter was also submitted to Dr.Samit Sharma, Managing Director of National Health Mission after positive assurance from Chief Minister Mr Gehlot.

Health Minister Mr Raghu Sharma and Dr Samit Sharma’s attitude was very positive on this and pursued it thoroughly by examining it and putting it forward in favourable conditions. Considering concern and opinion of all related persons and keeping the health of the community of the state especially youth in view, Honourable Chief Minister forwarded application for necessary action.

The future of youth which was becoming dark due to intake of E-cigarette but today it has come under bright light due to the vigorous efforts of VAAGDHARA and the Rajasthan Government.

राजस्थान राज्य के इतिहास में सभी आयु वर्ग के समुदाय के लिए बहुत शुभ दिन रहा. जब विश्व तम्बाकू मुक्त दिवस के अवसर पर, वाग्धारा संस्था के निरंतर प्रयासों से प्रभावित होकर चिकित्सा और स्वास्थ्य विभाग ने यह घोषणा की, कि राजस्थान में ई-सिगरेट के उत्पादन, भण्डारण, वितरण और विज्ञापन पर पूरी तरह से प्रतिबन्ध लगाया गया है.

इसके लिए समुदाय के एक बड़े समूह ने आवाज उठाई और ई-सिगरेट की उच्च बिक्री और नई पीढ़ी में इसके परिणामो के मुद्दे के लिए एक श्वेत पत्र सरकार को प्रस्तुत किया. हम हमारे, माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री अशोक गहलोत जी के बहुत ही आभारी हे की उन्होंने व्यापक समुदाय से श्वेत पत्र को चुनावी घोषणा पत्र में ई-सिगरेट पर प्रतिबन्ध लगाने के मुद्दे को शामिल किया. राज्य में ई-सिगरेट पर पूरी तरह से प्रतिबन्ध करने के लिए, उनकी इस सकारात्मक विचारधारा, सोच और कार्यवाही से यह साबित हो गया की मुख्यमंत्री महोदय को राज्य के निवासियों और नई पीढ़ी के भविष्य के बारे में गहन रूप से चिंतित हे और हम सभी उनके इस फैसले पर नमन करते हे. राजस्थान सरकार का यह निर्णय तम्बाकू सेवन के जाल में फसे युवाओ को इस जहरीले नशे से रोकने में कारगर साबित होगा.

२०१७ के बाद से वाग्धारा ने राज्य में ई-सिगरेट के प्रतिबन्ध की दिशा में प्रयास शुरू किया. इस सन्दर्भ में संस्था ने नेशनल टोबैको नियंत्रण सेल को एक प्रस्ताव पेश किया था. तम्बाकू सेवन से प्रभावितों को देखते हुए, तम्बाकू उत्पादों पर प्रतिबन्ध लगाने के इस प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार कर लिया जिस पर विभाग ने अग्रिम कार्यवाही प्रारंभ की. तत्कालीन चिकित्सा एवं स्वास्थ्य मंत्री श्री कालीचरण सराफ की उपस्थिति में संस्था ने पत्रकार गोष्ठी का आयोजन किया परन्तु कार्यवाही आगे नही बढ़ी. वाग्धारा द्वारा चुनावी घोषणा पत्र में ई-सिगरेट पर प्रतिबन्ध लगाने के मुद्दे को शामिल करवाने के लिए कई बार प्रयास किये गए. इसी सन्दर्भ में, माननीय मुख्यमंत्री के आश्वासन के तहत राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य मिशन के प्रबंध निदेशक डॉ समित शर्मा को भी एक पत्र सौपा गया.

वर्तमान स्वास्थ्य मंत्री श्री रघु शर्मा जी एवं डॉ समित शर्मा का रवैया इस पर बहुत ही सकारात्मक रहा इस पर त्वरित कार्यवाही करते हुए प्रकिया को आगे बढाया. सभी सम्बंधित अधिकारियो ने पक्षों और उनकी राय को सुना, साथ ही राज्य के समुदाय, विशेषकर युवाओ के स्वास्थ्य को ध्यान में रखते हुए, माननीय मुख्यमंत्री महोदय ने ई-सिगरेट पर प्रतिबन्ध हेतु अग्रिम कार्यवाही के लिए प्रेषित किया.

ई-सिगरेट के सेवन के कारण आज की भावी युवा पीढ़ी का भविष्य अंधकारमय हो रहा था लेकिन वाग्धारा और राजस्थान सरकार के सार्थक प्रयासों के कारण वह प्रकाश में आया.
