The prestigious “Vagad Ratna” Award was conferred upon Vaagdhara at the concluding ceremony of the 36th Dharti Jatan Yatra at the Nagar Village in Malpura, Tonk District in Rajasthan, under the aegis of Gram Vikas Navayuvak Mandal, Lapodia. Three awards are given to environment lovers every year, the other two being the Dhundhar Ratna and the Mewar Ratna.

Vaagdhara was given this award for its extraordinary contribution to the environment by reviving the traditional methods of farming with the concept of Swaraj following the Gandhian ideology. Conserving water, soil, seeds, animals and forest land has been the core of Vaagdhara’s Ideology towards achieving tribal sovereignty for the tribal community of the southern part of Rajasthan. This year Vaagdhara also facilitated a 500 KM Swaraj Sandesh-Samwad Padyatra from Banswara to Jaipur, organized by the Tribal Community from Banswara and the adjoining tribal belt.

The award was received by Mr. P.L.Patel, Dr. Sudeep Sharma, Mr., Mansingh Ninama, Ms.Anita Damore, and Mr. Prabhulal Garasia, on behalf of Vaagdhara. Speaking on the occasion Mr. P.L Patel explained in detail the functioning of Vaagdhara which is working with the tribal community in the Vagad region for the last 25 years. Vaagdhara is associated with one lakh families from one thousand villages in the tribal tri-junction of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh to promote Sachchi Kheti – for sustainable livelihood through the traditional methods of farming, Sachcha Bachpan- protection of child rights and Sachcha Swaraj – community participation in the decision-making process.

On this occasion, six nature lovers who have made special contributions to environmental protection were honored by the guests at the function. The Additional Superintendent of Police, Malpura, Rakesh Kumar Bairwa speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, appealed to the people to plant more trees to protect the environment.

Gram Vikas Navayuvak Mandal (GVNML) has been organizing the Yatra since 1987, with the agenda that “How people can be involved in Restoration of their Local Environment”. It is everybody’s business to protect the local environment, support regional ecology and save surrounding nature. Expecting transforming change from self-centric growth by exploiting natural resources to organic growth by judicious use of common resources and nature, Dharti Jatan (efforts for the motherland) is one umbrella initiative for all social change. This year the Dharti Jatan Yaatra was organized from the 2nd of Nov. to the 11th of November, 2022.

वाग्धारा प्रतिष्ठित "वागड़ रत्न" पुरस्कार से सम्मानित

ग्राम विकास नवयुवक मंडल, लापोडिया के तत्वावधान में राजस्थान के टोंक जिले के मालपुरा के नगर गांव में 36वीं ‘धरती जतन यात्रा’ के समापन समारोह में वाग्धारा को प्रतिष्ठित "वागड़ रत्न" पुरस्कार से नवाज़ा गया। मंडल द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष पर्यावरण प्रेमियों को तीन पुरस्कार दिए जाते हैं, जिसमें अन्य दो हैं ढूंढाड़ रत्न और मेवाड़ रत्न। वाग्धारा को यह पुरस्कार गांधीवादी विचारधारा के अनुसार स्वराज की अवधारणा के साथ खेती के पारंपरिक तरीकों को पुनर्जीवित करके पर्यावरण सुधार में असाधारण योगदान के लिए दिया गया है। राजस्थान के दक्षिणी भाग के आदिवासी समुदाय के लिए आदिवासी संप्रभुता प्राप्त करने की दिशा में जल, मिट्टी, बीज, पशु और वन भूमि का संरक्षण वाग्धारा की विचारधारा का मूल रहा है। इसी स्वराज की अवधारणा और गाँधी जी के स्वराज विचारों को जन जन तक पहुँचाने के लिए इस वर्ष वाग्धारा के तत्वावधान में बांसवाड़ा और आसपास के आदिवासी इलाके से आदिवासी समुदाय द्वारा आयोजित की गई, बांसवाड़ा से जयपुर तक 500 KM की स्वराज संदेश-संवाद पदयात्रा भी हुई ।

वागधारा की ओर से श्री पी.एल.पटेल, डॉ. सुदीप शर्मा, श्री मानसिंह निनामा, सुश्री अनीता डामोर और श्री प्रभुलाल गरासिया ने पुरस्कार ग्रहण किया। इस अवसर पर बोलते हुए श्री पी एल पटेल ने वागधारा के कामकाज के बारे में विस्तार से बताया जो पिछले 25 वर्षों से वागड क्षेत्र में आदिवासी समुदाय के साथ काम कर रहा है। वागधारा राजस्थान, गुजरात और मध्य प्रदेश के आदिवासी त्रि-जंक्शन के एक हजार गांवों के एक लाख परिवारों से जुड़ी है, जो सच्ची खेती को बढ़ावा देने के लिए - खेती के पारंपरिक तरीकों के माध्यम से स्थायी आजीविका के लिए ; सच्चा बचपन- बाल अधिकारों की सुरक्षा; और सच्चा स्वराज - निर्णय लेने की प्रक्रिया में समुदाय की भागीदारी सुनिश्चित करने के लिए ।

इस अवसर पर समारोह में अतिथियों द्वारा पर्यावरण संरक्षण में विशेष योगदान देने वाले छह प्रकृति प्रेमियों को सम्मानित किया गया । इस अवसर पर मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में बोलते हुए मालपुरा के अतिरिक्त पुलिस अधीक्षक श्री राकेश कुमार बैरवा ने लोगों से पर्यावरण की रक्षा के लिए अधिक से अधिक पौधे लगाने की अपील की.

ग्राम विकास नवयुवक मंडल 1987 से ‘धरती जतन यात्रा’ का आयोजन इस उद्देश्य के साथ कर रहा है कि "लोग अपने स्थानीय पर्यावरण की बहाली में कैसे शामिल हो सकते हैं"। स्थानीय पर्यावरण की रक्षा करना, क्षेत्रीय पारिस्थितिकी का समर्थन करना और आसपास की प्रकृति को बचाना हर किसी का दायित्व है। ‘सामान्य संसाधनों और प्रकृति के विवेकपूर्ण उपयोग से प्राकृतिक संसाधनों के अँधा-धुन दोहन से जैविक विकास के ओर परिवर्तन की अपेक्षा’ से धरती जतन (मातृभूमि के लिए प्रयास) सभी सामाजिक परिवर्तन के लिए एक व्यापक पहल है। इस वर्ष धरती जतन यात्रा 2 नवंबर से 11 नवंबर, 2022 तक आयोजित की गई थी।
