Jusita: Malnourished child

Jusita, a 37 months old girl child, belongs to a poor illiterate family of Karda village, Anandpuri block, Banswara. 12 months before during screening activity of VAAGDHARA she was found in very critical condition at her home. She was suffering from high fever and respiratory distress and was unable to eat or drink anything. VAAGDHARA team members took her anthropometric measurement that was very striking. Her weight was 3.8 kg at age of 25 months age and mid upper arm circumference was only 7.8 cm. she recognize as critical severe acute malnourished child with acute and chronic disease symptoms. After taking her history we found that when she was 6 months old she got high fever and after that her growth almost stopped and not achieved her basic milestones. VAAGDHARA team took her to malnutrition treatment center of nearby block Bagidora, that was 40km distant from her home. Doctor was not agreeing to admit her at Block MTC and referred her to District hospital MTC. Doctors admitted her immediately and started treatment. She stayed there for 12 days and gains 200gm weight.

It was just starting. By Regular follow up and linkage with Anganwadi services she gained 1.2kg weight and now her mid upper arm circumference is 10.2. She is improving continuously and now she don’t have any other acute disease symptoms.
