Baal Singh, a respected elder of the Bhil Adivasi community in Rajasthan's Banswara district, is a leading voice on traditional farming. During a recent meeting in Nisnawat village, he strongly emphasized that the foundation of tribal farming must be the conservation of time-honored, diverse crop varieties.

He was equally clear that the growing dependence on hybrid seeds purchased from the market has been detrimental to his community's farmers and should be stopped. He believes this trend undermines their heritage and farming practices.
